Tax Exemptions Glitch Update

In June of 2025, the CFWCID2 (the “District”) Board of Directors adopted a resolution applying certain tax exemptions for real property located within the District’s boundaries.  The Board adopted a general homestead exemption of 5% of the total appraised value of residential homesteads and an exemption of $25,000 of the appraised value of residential homesteads of individuals who are disabled or 65 years of age or older.

A technical issue has caused online statements to reflect incorrectly for approved exemptions by Canyon Falls.  We are working with the Denton County Tax office to ensure the exemptions are correctly applied to all affected properties.  Paper statements will be mailed in November after the pending Voter Approval Tax Rate election for Northwest ISD.  Online bills currently assume approval of the Constitution Amendments and VATRE, so amounts remain subject to change.
